Tysha is a sports and inclusion professional with a strong background in athletic training, sports management, and therapeutic recreation. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Longwood University in 2010 and a master’s degree in Sports Management from California University of Pennsylvania in 2014.
Her career began in therapeutic recreation, where she spent her college summers working at a special needs summer camp before transitioning into an afterschool program following graduation. Tysha later worked for SECEP for seven years as both an educator and job coach, during which time she earned her Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification and developed a deep commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities in educational and community settings.
After many years of volunteer service, Tysha joined Special Olympics Virginia in 2017. In her current role, she works with schools across the southeastern region of the state to promote inclusion through sports and collaborates closely with volunteers to support and strengthen community-based sports programs outside of school settings.
In addition to her work with Special Olympics Virginia, she continues to work part-time at an ABA clinic as a Registered Behavior Technician. She resides in Virginia Beach with her wife, a BCBA, and their six-year-old son, who is on the autism spectrum. Her professional and personal experiences continue to fuel her passion for inclusion, advocacy, and creating meaningful opportunities through sport.
