Digital Marketing Specialist

> Full-Time; Remote (w/minimal travel) – 40 hours/week

Join our fast-paced, equal opportunity, passionate team as a Digital Marketing Specialist. The Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for executing the organization’s digital communications and outreach strategy. This position requires strong technical, organizational, and creative skills to manage and enhance PEATC’s online presence across platforms, including the website, email marketing, and social media. The Specialist develops high-quality materials; ensures compliance with accessibility standards; and manages the full lifecycle of digital content and resources to support families and professionals statewide. This role also serves as a central coordinator for communications, ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent messaging across all channels. This is a remote work position, with travel to quarterly in-person staff meetings, and possibly supporting one or two in-person events annually. Applicants must reside in Virginia.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Communication

  • Maintain clear, respectful, and professional communication with PEATC leadership, colleagues, clients, and community contacts. This includes answering the phone and routing calls, as well as written communication such as emails and internal online chats.
  • Ongoing communication with staff on the status of projects, trainings, and new or updated resources.

Marketing

  • Create flyers/graphics using Canva to advertise events and training, ensuring they are 508 compliant.
  • Create engaging content and manage social media, web, and email efforts.
  • Develop and distribute bi-weekly e-newsletter, including content creation, formatting, and list management.

Content & Resource Management

  • Develop and maintain standardized templates for PEATC resources and ensure all materials meet Section 508 accessibility standards.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of created resources, including formatting, updating, version control, and archiving.
  • Post and organize finalized materials on the PEATC website and ensure content is current and accessible.
  • Maintain and update tracking systems to monitor the status, updates, and availability of all resources, coordinating with staff as needed.

Event Administration

  • Create and oversee event registrations utilizing Eventbrite, TicketTailor, and Zoom as required.
  • Maintain staff access to registration lists.

Data

  • Actively participate in all data collection processes, providing reports as required.
  • Analyze social media, newsletter, and website data to enhance user engagement and reach targeted audiences.

EXPERIENCE

  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficient in Zoom administration.
  • Experience with WordPress website maintenance.
  • Experience with social media platforms and email marketing software.
  • Experience in creating images and flyers in Canva or other graphic design software.
  • Preferred – Experience using Hootsuite to schedule social media posts.
  • Preferred – Understanding of 508 compliance and experience with 508 remediation.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Exceptional problem-solving and listening skills, and willingnessto learn.
  • Creativity with design and outreach.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize while being detail-oriented.
  • Self-starter with strong time management skills.
  • Strong written/verbal skills.

  • Associate degree or higher. Proven digital marketing experience may be substituted for preparation.

  • Ability to move objects, on occasion, up to 30 pounds.
  • Maintain a current Driver’s License and automobile insurance.
  • Ability to travel to quarterly in-person staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or Executive Director.
HOURS: 40 hours per week (9am to 5pm; Monday through Friday)
HOURLY RATE: starting at $24.00/hour – $27.00/hour + excellent benefits

Regional Family Support Specialist (Region 4)

Supporting Families Navigating Special Education

> Full-Time, Remote (w/Travel) – 40 hours/week

Join our fast-paced, equal opportunity, passionate team as a Family Support Specialist. Under supervision, assist families in navigating the special education system and empower them to make informed choices about their child’s educational services. Responsibilities include providing accurate and timely information, training, and assistance to parents and professionals on Virginia special education services. This is a remote working position within the Commonwealth of Virginia, funded through a state contract. This position requires travel.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and other disability civil rights laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Provide direct assistance (phone, email, in-person) to parents of children with disabilities as well as professionals, to educate them about their options, brainstorm solutions, and empower them to make informed decisions.
  • Connect with school-division-designated parent and family liaisons within their region monthly and have virtual or in-person meetings at least quarterly to develop collaborative relationships to coordinate family support.
  • Plan and host Community Office Hours in locations throughout the region each month, adapting based on effectiveness.
  • Plan and present PEATC information sessions (commercials) each quarter.
  • Actively connect with families of children with disabilities across your region.
  • Conduct targeted outreach efforts to underserved areas and populations within their region.
  • Assist in the development and distribution of informational materials and resources.
  • Report information and data in PEATC’s data management Compile and submit monthly reports to the Executive Director.
  • Frequently attend exhibit fairs/ community events to share PEATC information.

EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with special education laws, policies, processes, and procedures, as well as disability services.
  • Public speaking and/or public training
  • Experience planning, facilitating, or exhibiting at community outreach events
  • Preferred – Parent/guardian of a child with a disability who is receiving or has received special education services.
  • Preferred – Experience using data management

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of special education, general education systems, and disability services systems in Virginia.
  • Outstanding oral communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts to families and professionals of varying backgrounds.
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with families and professionals while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex concepts in parent-friendly language, using proper grammar, style, form, and punctuation.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and listening skills, and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize while being detail-oriented.
  • Self-starter with strong time management skills.
  • Comfort working independently in a virtual office environment, including self-management and accountability for meeting benchmarks.
  • Bachelor’s Experience may be substituted for preparation.

TECHNOLOGY

  • Collect and enter data using a Content Management System, Salesforce.
  • Proficiently use Zoom and Microsoft Products (including Excel, PPT, Word, Outlook, Teams). Willingness to learn to use new technology, programs, and applications.

OTHER

  • Ability to move objects, on occasion, up to 30 pounds.
  • Maintain a current Driver’s License and automobile insurance.
  • Ability to travel within the region to perform job duties, as assigned, as well as occasional statewide travel. Travel approximately 20% annually. Overnight travel is rare.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends on occasion.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or Executive Director.
