Este taller ayudará a los participantes a aprender los pasos del proceso de educación especial. Los participantes obtendrán una comprensión básica del lenguaje de la Ley de Educación para Individuos con Discapacidades (IDEA) 2004 sobre altas expectativas y se familiarizarán con su papel como padres en el desarrollo de Programas de Educación Individualizados (IEP). Los participantes también tendrán la oportunidad de aprender algunas estrategias prácticas para participar de manera efectiva en las reuniones del IEP.

Understanding Special Education (Presented in Spanish)
This workshop will help participants learn the steps of the special education process. Attendees will gain a basic understanding of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act’s (IDEA) 2004 language on high expectations and become more familiar with their role as parents in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Participants will also have the opportunity to learn some practical strategies for participating effectively in IEP meetings.
