2023 Parent and Youth Empowerment Summit (PYE)

PEATC is pleased to announce the 2023 Parent and Youth Empowerment (PYE) Summit on Saturday, September 9, 2023, for Virginia youth with disabilities (ages 12-22) and their parents!

Location: Great Wolf Lodge, 549 East Rochambeau Drive, Williamsburg, VA 23188

Accepted participants will be empowered to understand and advocate for their child’s secondary school learning and post-secondary outcomes, while the youth increase their knowledge to be effective self-advocates.

Parents will learn from topic experts while youth (ages 12-22) enjoy self-advocacy-related activities, led by youth-centered experts.

Priority will be given to those who have not previously attended PYE!

★ Registration for first-time attendees begins July 13, 2023

★ Registration for returning attendees begins July 28, 2023

The $35 registration fee will be refunded to the parent and youth who attend the Summit in its entirety and includes:

• Summit Admission for youth self-advocates (ages 12-22) and parents/guardians (at least one adult is required to attend the Summit).
• Breakfast and lunch for registered attendees of the Summit (families have the option to pay for meal vouchers for family members that are not attending the Summit).
• One-night hotel accommodations for Friday, Sept. 8, 2023. Rooms sleep up to 6 people (2 beds and a pull-out couch). Includes water park passes for those in the room (up to 6 people).
• Registrants may add an additional night’s stay (for Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023) for a cost of $50 (paid by participants and NOT refundable).

You MUST receive an acceptance confirmation from the PEATC office to attend.

**Cancellations, after you have received confirmation, will NOT be refunded.

**Refunds will be issued to those who are not accepted to attend the summit.

Event details:

• Registration Pick-Up: Friday, 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm OR Saturday, 8:00 am – 8:45 am
• Breakfast and Vendor Visits: Saturday, 8:00 am – 8:50 am
• Summit Kick-Off: Saturday, 9:00 am
• Summit Concludes: Saturday, 2:30 pm

This event is for Virginia residents only! Spaces are limited. You must receive a confirmation from the PEATC office to attend this event and you must commit to participating in the ENTIRE Summit.

Please make arrangements for youth/children who are not attending the Summit. Children under the age of 12 and/or children without disabilities are not permitted to attend the Summit and must have a parent/caregiver with them at all times.
