Say What? Early Communication and Conversation Without Words

In this virtual session, staff from the Virginia Deaf-Blind Project will be diving into early communication and how to use your child’s movements, interests, and behaviors to engage in a meaningful conversation. In this session, we will take a look at how early communication develops, practice communication strategies and discuss what it means for your child. This training is for families with children of any age who are not yet using words, including children with multiple disabilities, complex learning needs, and sensory impairments.

Speaker Bio: Hilary Hodes is the Project Coordinator for the Virginia Deafblind Project. She has worked in special education for over 15 years and is passionate about building strategies to connect children who communicate in unconventional ways with the people in their lives.
