Erika Jenkins

Family Support Specialist - Region 1

Erika H. Jenkins graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Tech, UT PROSIM. She majored in Sociology with a concentration in social inequality and also has minors in psychology and Africana studies. Erika received disability advocacy training through the Partners and Policy making program coordinated by the Virginia Board for People with Disabilities. Over the years she has held numerous leadership roles with disability-related nonprofits and has served with many local and state advocacy groups. She also serves as the Chairperson for her school division’s Special Education Advisory Committee. Erika’s husband Jarred has also pursued his career in Special Education. They have navigated the SPED process as a dynamic duo, not only for their son Evan but for all the children.

In her free time, Erika enjoys being outside in nature, crocheting, and watching a good television show. Most importantly she loves spending time with her husband Jarred, daughter Claire, and son Evan.

Erika hopes that her passion and knowledge of advocacy proves to be a great asset to PEATC!
