DID YOU KNOW?
Social Security both provide supports for individuals, including youth in transition, who want to work and maintain their benefits. These are called work incentive programs. Persons receiving SSI and/or SSDI may be eligible. For more information see the Social Security Online – The Red Book – SSDI And SSI Employments Supports (ssa.gov) which is updated annually.
FAST FACT:
In Virginia, unlike some states, you have to apply for Medicaid and SSI separately. Being eligible for SSI does not mean the person is automatically eligible for Medicaid, although most people do receive both benefits.
