Virginia has detailed requirements for earning a Standard or Advanced Studies Diploma, which most students earn. These requirements include passing certain Standards of Learning (SOL) tests, earning specific graduation credits, completing workplace learning experiences, and demonstrating critical thinking skills, among other expectations.
For students with disabilities, additional options are available if they are unable to meet the Board of Education’s established passing score (cut score) on an SOL test. In some cases, students may earn the credits needed for a Standard Diploma through Locally Awarded Verified Credits or Special Permission Credit Accommodations. These options are designed to provide flexibility while still maintaining diploma standards.
You can find additional information the VDOE website on Credit Accommodations.
